Chancery Bill Kennedy v Beatty 19 May 1709. [See p. 196, also Beatty IX, p. 23—PC]

Lewis Craig of Ricarton, Scotland m. Margaret Dalglish in Scotland upon whom he settled a jointure charged on his Scottish estate. By her had, with other sons & daus, 2 sons Thos & Robt Craigg.

Thos Craig the elder son died when Robt became heir & came to Ireland in 1694 to set his Irish estates.
In Hil[ary] term II Wm III (1700) Thos Quin of Dub., Alderman obtained judgment in Ex, agst. Robt. Craig for £1000 & an elegit issued in Hilary 2 Q. Anne (1704) to Sheriff Co. Cavan when Craig’s lands were sold & the tenants attained to Quin.
Robert & David Fleming in 1704 were the tenants on Sallaghan, co. Cavan, £2-7/6 rent.
Thos Quin obtained the judgement pr John Forbes of Dublin, apothecary for whom he received the rents for 2 years 1704-1707.
Being in receipt of sd rents Quin & Forbes by deed 17 May 1707 conveyed their int to James Kennedy of city of Dublin & Kennedy appointed James Magragh to collect the rents.
The tenants refused to atton (?) to Kennedy, who distrained them in Jan. 1707/8 but they effected a replevin in Common Pleas.
George Denniston & his brother Arthur were agents for Robt. Craig (George being married to Jane, full sister to Robt. Craig) with whom he got £800 portion charged on Craig’s Scottish estate, but Robt. in lieu thereof gave him a mortgage for the portion on his Irish estate.
Upon security of his Irish estate Robt Craig borrowed £1500 from Wm. Handcock & £800 from exers of John Topham in 1703.
Robt. Craig was a great dealer in Ireland, had a great glasswork & owned ships [or shops?].
Robt. Craig also owed money to Mr. Castleton & Wm Magee.
