for 25 years. Knows all the Defts, except the minors John & Catherine Beatty, for 20 years. Knew John Beatty late of Springtown, Co. Longford, gent., dec'd, several years before he died & that he died about April 1729 possessed of considerable estate and farmstock worth £80; that five beds part of his furniture were worth £7-10/-; and he had a lease of lands of Springtown and Killennad, Co. Longford and Tromroe, Co. Westmeath, and possessed same at the time of his death, and had £40 profit out of Tromroe; that Deft. Pakenham Beatty was his heir to Tromroe who put one Halfpenny in gaol for arrear of rent due in the lifetime of John Beatty, dec'd, but that Halfpenny has since been released upon giving a note to pay said arrears to Alex Burrows who acted for Pakenham Beatty; that one and a half years after the death of said John Beatty this Dept. was told by Deft. Robert Beatty that he, Robert, had directions from Defts Pakenham Beatty & Charles Beatty to give Plt. John Brock £60 as a portion with his said sister Ann Brock alias Beatty, Plt's late wife, and that he, Robert, would give £20 upon condition the rest of his brothers would also give the same; and also that he, Robert, and his brother Pakenham Beatty would endeavor to obtain for Plt. a place in the Revenue; but that Robert Beatty never kept his promises. That said John Beatty, dec'd during his life provided for Deft. Pakenham Beatty, his eldest son, by procuring him a place in H. M.'s Revenue, and did also provide for Charles Beatty his second son by putting him apprentice to an apothecary and did also provide for Deft. John Beatty his third son by giving him his own place of Hearth Money Collector of the Revenue. Before John Beatty died a writing was executed between him and Deft. Pakenham Beatty whereof Pakenham did covenant to give to the
three daughters of John Beatty, dec'd, £100 each on condition John Beatty would give him his lands of Springtown, which agreement was executed and was deposited in the hands of Mr. Claude Beatty, dec'd, after the death of said John Beatty. Knew Isabella Beatty, dec'd., daughter of sd John Beatty dec'd, and has heard Charles Beatty say she left all she had to the daughter or one of the children of said Charles. [Signed] Aungier (?) Ann McCally wife to Robert McCally of Robinstown, Co. Longford, gent., aged 38. Knows Plt. John Brock, and all the Defts, except the minors John and Catherine Beatty, there 10 years. Knew John Beatty late of Springtown, Co. Longford 7 or 8 years before his death about 14 years ago. Says John Beatty executed a writing with Deft. Pakenham Beatty by which Pakenham was to give John Beatty £300 in consideration of John Beatty giving him part of the lands of Springtown; and that since the death of John Beatty said writing was in the custody of Mr. Claud Beatty, brother to said John Beatty, dec'd, and that two or three weeks before John died, he, John, went to Claud's house to get said deed to cancel it, but they could not find the key of the drawer in which the deed was deposited.
