March 23, 1741. Charles Beatty of the City of Dublin, Gent mortgaged the lands of Aghakine, Barony of Granard to Samuel Cooke, of the City of Dublin for £300. Charles Beatty additionally mortgaged the following lands to secure payment of the previous mortgage: the lands of Tobber Phelem [Toberfelim] (117 acres), part of Ballynacrosses and the Lands of Ballynacrosses containing the cartron of Kinkilly (105 acres), the cartron of Ballynacross (100 acres) and the half cartron of Achaboy [Aghaboy?] (54 acres), with a total acreage of 378 acres, lying in the Barony of Granard and County of Longford and also the lands of Kilbride, formerly in the possession of John Gordon deceased and the park called Fort Hill, Stewart’s Brooke otherwise Carry in the half Barony of Fore, Co. Westmeath, also the lands of Donclararty (88 acres) in the Barony of Granard, Co, Longford, also the town and lands of Springtowne and Culligowne and Ballrannell and a parcel of land called the thirty acres “and all the other premises granted by a certain lease in the said release recited from James Harrison to John Beatty father of the said Charles Beatty to hold the said town and lands called Tobber Phelem granted by a certain lease thereof made by James McCartney Esq. to Pakenham Beatty & Robt Beatty in the said release also recited unto the said Samuel Cooke…” Several other leases are mentioned in reference to the release: a lease from the Earl of Longford for Ballynacrosses; a lease from Wm. Neave and a lease from James Howson, Arthur Webb, Mary Webb & Roger Webb. Witnesses to the current deed: Henry Humphrey, Clke to George Moore of the city of Dublin Public Notary and the said George Moore. Registered April 2, 1742.
