January 21, 1755. Indented Deed of Lease & Release. Between John Beatty of the Town & County of Monaghan and Ralph Semple of the Town & County of Monaghan. “Reciting that whereas Mary Cairnes ye Right Honorable Lady Dowager Blayney by her Indenture of Lease bearing date of Fifteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred & forty four did demise grant set and to farm let unto the said John Beatty his heirs Exrs Admrs & assigns all ye, ye malt house & garden at Sparks Lough together with a field commonly called Sparks Lough meadows and Cormick McArdles Tenement as also a tenement in Clownish Street joining John Campbell’s tenement all in the Town of Monaghan & in the possession of ye said John Beatty…for & during ye natural lives of John Beatty, Sarah Beatty & Sophia Beatty son & daughters of ye said John Beatty of Monaghan aforesaid at the yearly rent of six pounds ster with twelve pence a pound of receivers fees and other duties…& reciting that ye said Mary Cairnes the Rt. Hon’ble Lady Dowager Blayney of ye Town of Monaghan by one indenture of lease bearing date ye fifteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred and forty four did demise grant sell & to farm let unto the said John Beatty his heirs, Exrs, Admrs & assigns that part joining Sparks Lough opposite Watsons holding in Mullyeroghery… from the twenty fifth day of March then last for & during the natural lives of John Beatty, Sarah Beatty & Sophiah Beatty son & daughters of ye sd John Beatty of Monaghan at the yearly rent of ten shillings per acre…and reciting that whereas Sir Alexander Cairnes of Monaghan Bar’t by his indenture of lease bearing date ye seventeenth day of Oct. one thousand seven hundred and thirty one did demise set & to farm let unto the said John Beatty his heirs, Exrs, Admrs & assigns that tenement in Dublin Street in Monaghan together with a park in Terkeenan both in ye possession of ye said John Beatty situate lying & being in the parish & county of Monaghan…for the natural lives of ye Rt Honorable Lady Blayney ye said John Beatty & Sophia Beatty his wife..” John Beatty demised to Ralph Semple for £160-7/- all the lands in the above recited deeds. Provision of redemption—deed void if the £160-7/- is paid to Ralph Semple. Witnesses: John Dear, Edward Campbell and Patrick French, all of Town & Co. of Monaghan. Registered Jan. 31, 1755.
