February 27, 1749. Deed of Mortgage and Release. John Beatty of Town & County of Monaghan, Gent. leased to Alexander Montgomery of Besson, Co. of Monaghan land that the Rt. Hon Wm Graham of Platten [Platin] , Co. Meath had leased to John Beatty on October 5, 1743, i.e. “part of the lands of Platten aforesaid commonly called & known by the name of Mt. Granville now in the possession of the said John Beatty containing by estimation one hundred & thirty four acres plantation measure be the same more or less…bounding north to the road leading from Platten to Drogheda east to lands in possession of Richard Pentony south to land in possession of John Knabbs & west to Platten Deer Park…” For the sum of £100 paid to John Beatty by Alexander Montgomery. Lease for the natural lives of Sarah Beatty, John Beatty & Hugh Beatty, daughter and sons of the said John Beatty. Lease is void if the £100 is repaid to Alexander Montgomery. Witnesses: Conor Carolon of Dundalk, Co. Louth, gent & Edward Culeen.
