March 10, 1753. Memorial of Indented Lease “between James Beatty of the town Clonish & Co. of Monaghan, merchant of the one part & Sheffington Hamilton merchant of the other part. Whereby after reciting as therein is recited the sd James Beatty doth for the considerations therein mentioned demise Grant set & to farm let unto the sd Sheffington Hamilton his heirs Exrs Admrs & Assns all that & those the tenement in Clonish between the sd James Beatty’s dwelling house & Henry Evats which is commonly known by the name of Johnstons tenement with the new built house thereon & all the backhouses behind the same with the Plott of garden joining Mr. Evats & six plantation acres of land known by the name of Pidgeon Hill of that part of the meadow adjoining James Grahams & Mr. Bulfinches field reserving and excepting out of the sd demise the two vaults under the sd Skiffingtons shop and backroom also liberty to the sd James Beatty to make use of the Little House of Office in sd garden & liberty to go to his meadow adjoining the six acres thro the sd six acres of the Pidgeon Hill & with horses & carrs to draw his hay through the same all situate lying and being in the county of Monaghan. To hold to the sd Skeffington Hamilotn his heirs Exrs Admrs & Assns (except as therein excepted) from the first day of Nov’r last past for & during the term of twenty one years & for the natural life & lives of the sd James Beatty and Wm. Beatty only son of the said James Beatty & Richard Cross son to James Cross deceased which the said lease was duly executed by the sd James Beatty & Sheffington Hamilton in presence of Francis Lucas & Richard Cross Gent both of Clownish aforesaid & this memorial was also duly executed by the sd James Beatty in presence of sd Richard Cross & Robt Hamilton of the city of Dublin, Gent. this twenty fifth day of Sept’r one thousand seven hundred and fifty three.
