November 14, 1738. Tripartite Indenture. Between Edward Weir of the City of Dublin, Gent, John Burrow of the City of Dublin, Gent. And Pakenham Beatty of Colerain, Co. Antrim, gent. Pakenham Beatty & “other respective heirs” had been fined for the lands of Coolarty (alias Coolagharty, Largan, Muckersagh, all in the Manor of Moate, Barony of Granard, Co. Longford [A fine is often paid at the renewal of a lease for 3 lives, “at the fall of each life.”] The lands are now “for the only proper use & behoof of the said Packenham Beatty his heirs & assigns for ever subject to ye yearly fee farm rent fines…” It is also mentioned that Pakenham Beatty had made a fee farm lease of the lands to Robert Beatty, Gent.
