Exchequer Depositions Rea v Betty 1681

In a cause John Rea Plt., David Betty, Deft. Commission dated 22 June 1681, issued out of the Court of Exchequer directed to Henry Crofton, Esq., on behalf of Plt., and Thomas Plunkett & John Palmer on behalf of Deft. to take evidence relating thereto.
Interrogations on behalf of John rea, Plt., agst David Betty, Deft.

1. Do you know Plt. and Dft. Did you know William Bettie, deceased, father to Deft. David Bettie?
2. Do you know the lands of Corranmore, Tullycossinbeg and Tullycossinmore, situate in the barony of Leyny, Co. Sligo? Had Wm. Bettie any lands due to him for his services in the late rebellion or wars in Ireland? And if so were sd lands set out to him in his lifetime, or to any other person in his right after his death?
3. Do you know that Plt. purchased any lands, and for what conson., and whether in the lands of Tullicossinbegg and Tullicossinmore? And if so did not Plt, as guardian to Deft. David Bettie enjoy any and what number of acres in sd lands and for how long? Did not Plt. agree with one Capt. Henry Hughes to claim sd lands before H. M.’s late Court of Claims in trust for Plt. and David Bettie according to their respective proportions of sd lands? And if so did not Plt. pay Henry Hughes some money towards the charges and expenses he should be at to procure certificate and letters patent for sd lands and the securing thereof by patent?
4. Do you know that Capt. Hughes became possessed of lands so claimed in trust as aforesaid in the lands of Tullycossinbeg and Tullycossinmore, and how long was he possessed thereof, and did not Deft. commence a suit to recover the lands from Hughes, and in what Court? If so did not Plt. pay Deft. a sum of money to prosecute sd suit, and did not David Bettie obtain a Decree to recover the lands and also for what sums of the mean profits thereof for the time that Hughes withheld the same, and did not Hughes deliver possession of the lands and a sum of money to Deft. in pursuance of sd Decree.
5. Do you know that David Bettie, before sd suit was commenced agst Hughes, did promise and agree to give Plt. John Rea a proportion of sd lands to be so recovered, what part thereof and also what part of the mean profits, and if so hath David Bettie performed or refused to keep sd promise? Entered 23 June 1681.

Depositions taken before Henry Crofton on behalf of John Rea, Plt. and before Thomas Plunkett and John Palmer on behalf of David Betty, Deft., by virtue of Commission out of Exchequer dated 22 June 1681, and taken this 18 July, 1681.
Robert Gryer of Slygoe [Sligo], gent., aged 60. (1) Knows Plt. and Deft. and the lands of Tullycossinbegg and Tullycossinmore since the year 1653, but does not know Corranmore. Did know Wm. Betty deceased. (2) Wm. Betty had said lands due to him for his service in Ireland but same were not laid out to him in his lifetime (3) Plt. purchased from this Deponent and his three comrades, Robert Blake, Robert Johnston and John Gryer, the lands of Tullycossinbegg and from Thomas Dodd the half quarter of
