[The following pages appear to be in the handwriting of H. B. Swanzy and are likely the Beatty notes he mentions in his letter on page 281. It is difficult to tell exactly where Swanzy’s notes end but I think they at least continue through page 292. LTB]

Claud Beaty of Coolalcarty, Co. Longford Gent. states that his grandfather John Beaty late of Farranseer, Co. Cavan, who seized the lands of Corr. A treaty was made between the said John Beaty and the Rev. James Layng, late of Killeshandra, Clk, deceased. A marriage to be had between your orator’s father John Beaty, jun. (son of the said John Beaty) and your orator’s mother Margaret Layng, daughter of the said Rev. James Layng. The marriage took effect and in settlements dated 15 Oct. 1663, assured Corr to the issue. They had an eldest son and heir, your orator Claud.
Your orator’s father, John Beaty, married secondly Mary Young, by whom he had issue two sons, John and Edmond Beaty, and two daughters Frances and Elizabeth Beaty. Richard Young, who was brother of the said Mary Young, als. Beaty, was agent to Sir Francis Hamilton of Killashandra and prevailed on John Beaty to leave Corr to Edmond. Corr was held under the Hamilton family, and during the revolution of 1689 the lease for safety was hidden in the ground, where it was injured by moisture and damp. James Young son of the said Richard Young.

Isabella Beatty, widow of Lieut. Claud Beatty, late of Coolaharty, deceased, states that Claud brought his Bill (see above) about the lands of Corr. It was left to the award of Charles Beattty, of Farranseer, Co. Cavan, Esq., who made his award 29 Oct. 1726, saying that Edmond Beatty should pay Claud £200 which he did. Claud d.s.p.

John Smith, of Graffoge, Co. Cavan, Gent., Richard Bartlett of Dublin, Gent. and Walter Brampton of Littlebawn, Co. Meath, Gent. exrs. of the last will of William Smith, late Sergt. Royal Artillery, at Woolwich, deceased, show that Francis Beatty, late Bombadier Royal Artillery, died at Gibraltar in 1727 and appointed Wm. Smith executor to his will. The said Francis was the only child* of Robert Beatty killed at the siege of Aier in Flanders in 1710. The said Wm. Smith commenced a suit in this honorable court against Charles Beatty, late of Farransier, Co. Cavan, Esq, and uncle to the sd. Wm. Smith. The said Wm. Smith was a near relation of the said Charles Beatty of Farransier, being his sister’s son. His mother, Ann Smith, was sister to the said Charles Beatty. Charles said he would leave property to William Smith, but left it to his own brother Arthur Beatty. William Smith deceased at Gibraltar 10 Dec. 1730. Your Supplt. John Smith & his mother Ann Smith.
[* Note. Francis Beatty was natural son of Robert, see Exch. Bill 6 Dec. 1732. Beatty v. Smith. I see I have made no note as to how Claud and Wm. Beatty come in. It would be well to look up bill to see.]
