Exchequer Bill:
   Rowland Betty, Plt. James Crosier, Alexander Irwin and Margaret Irwin alias Johnston, Defendants.
   Bill 2 Nov 1714.    Answer Crosier 19 May 1715
Rep'n. 2 March 1715. {6}
   Plantiff Rowland Betty, Exor. of the last will of John Crosier, late of Cavan Tully Cormack, Co. Fermanagh, gent., deceased, showeth that John Crosier being possessed of considerable personal estate consisting of farms, farm stock, debts due to him by bills and bonds, of cash and household goods to the value of £300 did on 29 July 1706 make his will and thereby directed his goods to be sold to pay his debts and if not enough effects to pay same the legacies mentioned in the will were to abate in proportion to pay same and appointed Plt. Executor, who accordingly proved the will. That Crosier having died soon after, and Plt. having proved the will in the Diocese of Clogher, Plt. did possess himself of said estate as was not conveyed away before or at the time Crosier died or soon after by Margaret Irwin alias Johnston, one of the Defts., who had been housekeeper to John Crosier. That there was not only a list draw up by the testator of debts he owed, but also a list of debts due to him and of the securities for same. That Margaret Irwin alias Johnston having John Crosier's keys to his drawers, she (after much persuasion) handed then over to Plt., who thereupon opened testator's closet and scrutore (secretary?)where his papers were and upon comparing what he found with the list Testator had given him found there were several papers for considerable sums missing. Whereupon, Plt. asked Margaret Irwin what had become of them; particularly one bond due by James Crosier (one of Defts) for a debt of £20, and Margaret Irwin denied all knowledge thereof. That Plt. has since been informed Margaret Irwin procured said bond from the scrutore? and gave it to James Crosier to whom Plt. applied for same, but who now refuses and says he has long since paid said debt. That Margaret Irwin alias Johnston and her husband Alexander Irwin now say that Testator gave the bond to James Crosier while he was alive and Plt. charges that Defendant’s speeches are not true, &c &c.    Bill entered 2 Nov. 1714
